Hi all, I’m stuck in this issue since sometime:
query in Azure cloud-
-
There is a AKS cluster in a subnet with a range 10.x.x.x/23 - basically available IPs would be 512.
-
I should verify the used IPs now.
-
one way is I went to the Azure portal and in Vnet - I went in connected devices and I see a list of IPs utilized which shows me around 185.
-
this gave me a list of IPs utilized and from which nodepool but not the application or resources which is using it.
-
so now I went into the cluster and did these - k get pods -A -o wide - k get svc -A -o wide - k get ingress -A -o wide - k get nodes -o wide And noted all the IPs and summed up. Now I get total ips as only around 117.
-
basically my understanding was it both ways the IPs has to match but it isn’t.
Few IPs are not showing up at all and not able to trace them.
- Also I have verified that there are no external services in the same subnet. Also accounted the reserved 5 IPs from Azure in a subnet for my calculation.
Please avoid using the general channel for specific questions.
This seems to be an #azure question

Hello there from south of France
Glad to join the crew on this day as I just obtained a “DevOps admin” professional title past friday As a rookie, I first wanted to thank the posse for sharing so much work and knowledge Just scratched the surface of your contents and only skimmed over the docs of a handful of modules and already learned a lot!
Thank you for letting me in, hope we’ll have good times Cheers Jeremie
Welcome @silopolis! Thanks for the shout-out. We really appreciate it and glad it’s been helpful.
Make sure you check out atmos https://atmos.tools/
Atmos is a workflow automation tool for DevOps to manage complex configurations with ease. It’s compatible with Terraform and many other tools.
Hey thank you @Erik Osterman (Cloud Posse)!
Atmos is high on my Tools To Learn list, for sure, and a step up every day as I discover the complexity and finesses of IaC management.
I first trying to get my head around the architecture and project structuration fundamentals. Still have blurry/moving parts at this low level making my old sysadmin brain uncomfortable. Then, I’ll build a couple of Terraform projects the “hard way” for Acme Inc., best client ever . This should put me in a decent shape to squeeze the juice out of Atmos and other higher level tools…
Thanks again for all Have a beautiful day J

Perfect plan. That’s in my experience the best way to learn, so you can come to appreciate the higher order abstractions.
Thanks for validating
Anyone know how I can find out why a data table is so big? I’ve set the value of the largest(text) columns to null. And it’s still 18GB for about 170k records.
this has some a reference to the various tools for inspecting mysql/postgres. It’s possibly bloat in postgres
DBAs and developers use pganalyze to identify the root cause of performance issues, optimize queries and to get alerts about critical issues. Sign up for free!
Thanks @Eamon Keane
also, it’s a good question for #office-hours today
I’ll try and make it
