This is not an accurate representation of what is happening in the Nix community. The projects have needed more effective governance for a long time, and now there’s significant popular support behind building that. Eelco formally stepped down from his Foundation seat to make room for the new governance structure, and to finally end the incorrect idea that he’s BDFL - a position he never wanted in the first place, and which only existed in the sense that people who don’t know any better decided he must occupy. He still leads the Nix core team, and probably always will

Hao Wang avatar

yeah, feeling same that nix community governance was not managed well, the guys are using nix actively seems low profile, it does need a community advocate position

Curious about which cloud provider is the most cost-effective?

I just published a comparison of AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Stackit, breaking down how each one stacks up on pricing for storage, compute, and more. If you’re looking to optimise your cloud spend, this could be helpful.

Read it here: https://medium.com/cloudplatformengineering/which-cloud-is-cheaper-aws-azure-gcp-and-stackit-bc2bc14c083f

Just found this good project for data engineering, as an alternative of Airflow: https://www.mage.ai

Does it have a community like Airflow, is it mature enough to trust it?

With the industry now standardising on Iceberg, I wonder is there any benefit to data tools specifically tailored to iceberg? Might be a bit early as RBAC and streaming are still differentiated.

https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/data-analytics/announcing-bigquery-tables-for-apache-iceberg

For high-throughput streaming ingestion, BigQuery tables for Apache Iceberg leverage Vortex, an exabyte-scale structured storage system that powers the BigQuery storage write API.
